Cragging after the rain in Mallorca

Last night it was thunder and lightning, leaking roofs and power cuts. But by lunchtime the rain had receded so we went to warm the team up gently on the crag at Vitoria. Some of The Glasgow Academy's climbers put ropes up for others and there was lots of leading, bottom roping and learning going on. Back to the villa for a massive spag bol!

Mallorca

The distinct lack of blog posts has been due to a well earned holiday in Mallorca with family and friends. A (very) little climbing, a little more road biking (Pollenca to Formentor- excellent quick ride) and a lot of time with Jane, Kaye and Sandy (who was swimming in the sea and climbing a little).
Now I'm working for  week with a group from The Glasgow Academy out here and today it was a little deep water bouldering and a lot of diving and swimming!

Last day at work!

I'm away on holiday! 2 weeks in Mallorca (ok first week is holiday, second is work but who cares- it'll be hot and sunny!) bring it.
As a finish to the last long run of work Max and I had another UHI group at The Ice Factor where I was teaching some of them to lead climb amongst other things.

Did I mention I'm on holiday?

Autumn cragging

Second day out with a first year group from UHI's Adventure Tourism Management Degree Course as part of their introduction to cragging. I was working with Max and Scott in Glen Nevis. Today I took my team of 6 up the Gutter, then we abseiled off, did some rigging on the ground and bottom roped on SW buttress. Fine and warm enough to dry the crags for us today after a frosty start. It was very busy in the Glen today: multiple Outward Bound Groups, a couple practising for SPA Assessment and an SPA training from Joint Services all working sensibly around each other.

On the ice today...

...ok I was indoors at The Ice Factor. I was training the first 2 staff who will instruct on the new Ice Wall being built at The Snow Factor, Braehead, Glasgow.

Definitely feeling like autumn today

Checking the line and staying safe
 Rigging the ropes
Nice wellies!
Day 2 of AAA's Staff SPA Training and we had heavy autumnal showers at Auchinstarry. The guys persevered well and kept the rigging and learning going all day.
I'm back home in Corpach today. 3 more days work in Lochaber then holiday.... yippeeeeeee!

SPA for AAA

Today was the first day of a busy SPA Training for staff at Action Adventure Activities. We spent the first part of the day at Neilston Quarry and then the late afternoon and evening at Glasgow Climbing Centre. The guys had done a great job preparing and were quite on the ball.
Showery today I wonder what we will get tomorrow?
It was a bit wet in the Trossachs tonight!
