More boring beauty...

The Vent
Milky Way
Great views across the plateau
Descending the Fiacaill of Sneachda
...as a friend says. Another stunning day in the Cairngorms for easy/mid grade climbing. Today Eoin, Tom and I went to Coire an Lochan where we followed Steve Spalding and his student up the Vent (icey short lived III). We took our time climbing in series to let the guys practise building belays and bringing each other up. After abseiling from above the difficulties it was around to Milky Way (II/III and again icey) for our second climb of the day. We chatted to Giles and his team who had really enjoyed Chute Route (V) before heading for home down the Fiacaill of Sneachda in the sun. Another grand day working on an Intro to Winter Climbing course for Glenmore Lodge.
Over in the west Point 5 and the lower part of Compression Cracks were climbed and Ledge Route gave a fine mountaineering day out for MIC Assessment candidates. Looks a bit breezier tomorrow- might need to don a waterproof over my soft shell for the first time this week!
