Last day on Skye

Yesterday was my last day on Skye for a while and the weather was great. We walked up out of a mist covered Glen Brittle campsite and round to Coir' A' Ghrunnda in bright sunshine. Rich had identified Central Buttress on the South Crga of Sron Na Ciche as a good objective for the team. The route is a looong open Diff with limited gear, sustained climbing at the grade and good situations. He tied on with Al and Brnadon and I took Eti and Charlotte. The route description in Skye Scrambles was fairly easy to follow and we made good progress up narrow basalt dykes and steeper immaculate gabbro walls and corners. Lunch on Pinnacle Rake (next to a very improbable pinnacle) led us to the final crux wall which gives great step climbing up a corner on jammed flakes and has better gear than most of the pitches (or would have had if we'd been placing any). We meandered down the ridge in the sun and said cheerio to our top team from London. This week I was working for Mountain Motion.
